Welcome Craig Brown and Joe Brown who will coach the offensive line for the freshman team.

Vendor cards will be distributed at the end of May.  Blitz day is on June 17^th and June 24^th from 6-8 pm.

There was a coaches meeting and senior captains were voted on.  Coach Lunardi will let the players know who will be the captains.

Golf invitations were sent out with the Gazette.  Sponsoring of holes is where the money is.  Two signs on every hole (36 signs), 36 teams of 4 (144 golfers).  Would like to have enough prizes to give everyone something when they walk away.  Mark makes a motion to keep the budget $1000.00 as in the past and Val seconds.

There are 3 old sleds at the Junior High School to scrap. The money will be used to put towards new,  hopefully there will be help from the boosters.

The language needs changed in the Core Selection book.  At this time general English taken in the 9^th grade is not approved by NCAA.  Coach will work with Dr. Calfee on this before his retirement.

Coach has not heard back from Mrs. Harris about the donation from Saint Gobain.

Greg Thomas talked to John Myers from Myers Appliance about having a mattress sale, he is interested.  There will be no clothing sale this year.

Camp at Mount Union is $190.00 per player. Coach will be giving discounts to players that show initiative and for multiple siblings. ( 1^st is ½, 2^nd is ¼ and 3^rd is free).  Fred makes a motion to accept and Val seconds.

The week after Mount Union there is a 2 day youth camp and the seniors will coach. The youth will get a T-shirt, pop and pizza. Youth sign up is $100.00, Camp is $20.00.  Youth do not have to go to camp.  Paul makes a motion to make up the difference if needed, Mark seconds.

There is a kicker camp coming up and Greg makes a motion to pay half for 3 kickers to attend the camp. Mark seconds.

Voting took place for Treasurer and Vice President, a 2 year term.  Kristin Stonestreet will retain the office of Treasurer and Mark Tirpak will be the new Vice President.

The Ravenna Ravens football team and a number of parents gathered in Coach Lunardi’s room on March 18th to put together care packages for United States Service Members.  The team had put together more than 30 shoe boxes containing items that ranged from snack foods to personal hygienic products.  The materials used to make these care packages were gathered from the beginning of February 2011 upto the day of putting the packages together.   Everything that was left over from making the shoe boxes was donated to organizations in need, like the Center of Hope.

As a team, we are proud to sponsor and support our young men and women that have put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms from domestic and foreign threats.  Thank you!

2011 Community Service

It is re-election time for the Vice President and the Treasurer, it is a 2 year term.

On March 18^th after school the shoeboxes will be packed for the Outreach Program. A lot of items have been donated along with monetary donations. Pizza for the players will be donated by the Thomas’. THANK YOU. $205.00 was donated, this will be used to send approximately 25-30 shoeboxes. Chris Thomas will send Thank You cards out. Pictures will be taken and submitted to the Record Courier.

Information on the Golf outing is tabled till the next meeting.

The Incentive Program for the players to have Mount Union Camp paid for is also tabled by Coach Lunardi, it will be re-evaluated.

The baseball team needs to sell 600 tickets total (300 to watch the Ravenna game and 300 to watch Cleveland) to be able to play at Progressive Field. Kristen makes a motion to buy 20 $5.00 tickets and Mark seconds.

Gatorade for the team is between $195-$255.  Greg makes a motion to check what is left from last year and buy what is needed, Allen seconds.

The Athletic Boosters are buying the away jerseys and a few of the choices were passed around for the parents to see.

Greg Thomas will stop in at Myers Appliance to see if he is interested in having a mattress sale.

Still working on the banners that will be placed on the poles in Ravenna, the ones that they are looking at are expected to last about 7 years.

Night at the Races was held on February 5^th, 2011. 360 tickets were sold, 24 complimentary tickets were given, and there were 16 unsold tickets. A total of 324 people attended.

The side boards were a big money raiser, even though it was a little bit crowded in the area. Next year maybe the pop and water will be moved and the cakes will be displayed elsewhere to make room for the sideboards.

The profit for Night at the Races was $10,892.79, the most ever for this event. A BIG thank you goes out to all of those that helped. The money that was made goes towards camp, team dinners, clothing etc. for the players. Charles makes a motion to accept the treasurer’s report, Mark seconds.

It is re-election time for the Vice President and the Treasurer.  It is a 2 year term, nominations will be taken in March and elections will be held in April.

DVD’s were made for the players, Charles Harris donated his time, everyone was happy with how they turned out.

Kellie Harris talked about a donation to be made for more jerseys from her place of work, Saint Gobain. At this time it is unsure how much the donation will be. The cost for 65 jerseys is approximately $5000.00

Relay for Life falls on a Saturday and Sunday this year in April.  Prom is also held on the same Saturday. Possibly selling t-shirts as a fundraiser.

The golf outing fundraiser will be held on June 11^th, 2011 at the Aurora Golf Club. 36-foursomes to be sold, 2/hole. $100.00 per person. Looking for hole sponsors and donations for prizes.

Coach Lunardi talked about an Incentive Program for the players to have the Mount Union Camp paid for. A percentage could be taken for some or all of the following examples: a good GPA, be a letter winner, All Conference Winner, have taken the ACT, a % off for the number of years on the team, and selling the discount cards.  It cost $190 per each player to go to camp.   Kristen makes a motion to approve the Incentive Program, Ed Jordan seconds.  This year, the players will leave for camp earlier to give them 3 full days of practice for the same price.  Grades 10-12 will be at Mount Union, grades 7-9 will be at the Ravenna Stadium.

Mark Tirpak brought up the Beer Sale Fundraiser again at the Sun Beau Summer fest on July 2^nd and 3^rd.  Also, Sun Beau has offered the club to sell beer at the Charity Horse Show on July 22, 23, and 24.

March 12^th is the Ravenna Police Association Reverse Raffle. Coach wants to buy 2 tickets; Kristen makes a motion that the club purchase them and Val seconds.

Charles Harris mentions that the club needs to purchase a “replicator”, a standalone unit that cost between $600-800.  This will be able to copy 7 thumb drives a time. Also need to purchase up to 3 HD cameras, this will allow the coaches and players to look at past and present films.  The $800 Tech Support fee maybe dropped.  A budget of $2000.00 is proposed.  $1250.00 will be set aside each year for the conversion over to a completely new system in approx. 5 years.  Charles makes a motion to put $1000.00 into a CD each year for this purchase and Jim Corrigall seconds.

The Spaghetti dinner that was held on Saturday, October 30^th grossed $1100.00.  $600.00 of that was paid to the English Pub for the rental of the room, cooking and supplies.

The PTC Patches came in and were distributed to all of the players.

Night at the Races will be held on February 5^th, 2011, tickets were handed out to be sold.  400 tickets were printed.  Sicilianos will cater, pop and water is donated by Giant Eagle.  Carol Kyer is in charge of the baskets, Mark and Coach is in charge of donations.  The programs need typed, Mrs. Moyer will make 2 cakes, (one chocolate, one white). Horses can be sold for $10.00 each.

Charles stated that the highlight videos for the Freshman and JV were done, he will be working on the Varsity video and hopes to have a master disc made by Thanksgiving for Coach to look over.  It will cost approximately $400.00 for the audio on the highlight discs. Duplication is anywhere from $1-5.00 and approx. 150 need to be duplicated.

The Gridiron Club would like to do an Outreach Program for Coach Schmauch that is in the military. We will be looking for donations from the community and Coach has a list of suggestions for supplies.  Donations can be brought in the 4 Fridays in January. On one Friday in February, the players will pack shoeboxes with the supplies to be sent to the troops. Possibly next year, asking Kent Roosevelt or another team to work together on this project.  Letters will go home before Christmas break to the players.

Hooded Sweatshirts were handed out to 13 Scholar Athletes.

Ravenna Ravens Football OutReach Program (RRFOP) provides academic, professional and personal development opportunities for its volunteers through community outreach and service-partnerships with community-based organizations. RRFOP serves as a channel for students and athletes, involvement with community organizations and local projects.  The RRFOP has a particular, but not exclusive focus on Ravenna City and Ravenna Township neighborhoods.
